  1. alright, I wanna get a dvd ripped but I can't seem to unlock the dvd
I've followed the instructions, but I won't pass the point of actually getting the dvd rip to the harddrive
I've heard that i could open it by playing the dvd, then stoping it
but it doesn't help at all.....I'm all out of ideas, everyone just says to play the cd but it won't help, so I've decided to post here

    thank you, cheers

  2. Which movie is that ? i've yet to see a DVD that can't be ripped
Have you tried with Sector Extractor ? it usually wins where all else fails.

  3. So you have an authentication problem?

    Try this:
Load up PowerDVD (or some other software DVD player). Start playing the movie (this means that the DVD must be authenticated). Then "pause" the playback (not stop).

Now try loading SmartRipper or DVD Decrypter.

  5. Since I have ripped Terminator 2 (one of the first movies I ever did), i'm thinking maybe your ASPI Layer is bad, I suggest you try updating or doing a reinstall of it.

  6. got all the aspi layers working, so the problem is not there.
and btw, I've just found out that Fast and the Furious (the movie that I'm trying to rip) has some special new protection or something alike

if anyone has any info, please do reply

  7. i'm guessing this is T2 ultimate edition. it's one of the hardest dvdz to rip cuz of it's tons of multi-angles.

first of all, can your dvd-rom even play the DVD at all? i ripped both T2 and fast and furious with very old version of smartripper (so old it doesn't require any aspi). i don't think it's some sort of new encryption.

just like wut others said, play the dvd (maybe for a little bit longer) and then close it and open up smartripper. if that doesn't work, try dvddecryptor and claddvd. otherwise, try getting winDVD.

  8. If all else fails, get Sector Extractor v1.2, I have yet to see that program fail to rip a DVD! (oh and my T2 is also special edition!).

  13. I think your speed is pretty good, although you haven't said how long is your movie, so it's hard to tell.

I just ripped Fast and the Furious like a week ago. First Rip I ever did, had no problems. I used Sefy's Classical Newbie Guide to DVD Ripping or whatever the heck he called it.

  17. I'm glad to hear you guys like the guide so much, Pinoy informed me that loads of people downloaded the ZIP file of it, if you read our combined post in the Newbie section, i'm currently working on v2.0 of the guide.

The main diffrence will be a Tree - Branch, that you choose what you want, and it will guide you through with all the options for what you picked.

You can sample a "preview" on my webpage (www.sefy.dns2go.com) but I gotta warn you, i'm not done with it, lots of links propably won't work, and the text and images aren't fully ready, it's just for previewing.
