I was trying to edit some VOB files in Vegas but couldn't import so I used VOB2MPEG & it worked but took forever. So I started playing around on another VOB and just changed the extention to .mpg and it worked with Vegas & was able to edit. Is this problem or can I just skip a step without a problem and edit & export. I'll still have to use Super to compress for a single layer DVD but I had to do that the other way as well.

It's not advisable because although the video is MPEG the VOB can have multiple audio tracks and subtitles.
A true .MPG file has MPEG video and audio(MPEG-1 layer II). -
never tried to drag & drop, just tried import video. Thanks can't wait to get home and tinker some more.
