    hi,

i'm using the latest verison of ultraiso on windows xp sp2. i'm sorry this question might seem very noobieish.. but i really have no idea how to do it.

i have a dvd iso that is bigger than a single layer dvd-r.

i do not have a dual layer-dvd drive...

what can i do to split the big iso(7gb. i think its from a dual layer disc , is it?) into 2 single layer dvd-r??? i do not want to change/encode the contents...

    and
is it possible not to lose quality or lose the menus???

    thanks a lot!

    regards,

DVD Fab Platinum or DVD Remake are probably your best bets. You may have to mount the ISO or extract the contents for these programs to work, but you should be able to split the disc into two working parts without sacrificing quality or content.

There are no free tools to do what you want. It is a complicated exercise, so the tools that do it nicely cost. Neither are expensive though.

Use shrink to backup iso to DVD-9 > vobBlanker to remove stuff(crap not needed),or split disk > DVDRB to DVD-5 >burn..
Though the DVDRB process will re-encode ,it will preserve best quality backup IMO.....
guns is right ,DVDFab, or DVDRemake ,are probably your best bets, and easier to use.......
But my choice, Shrink >DVD-9 > DVDRB to DVD5> IMGBurn....

There are plenty of free, simple to use, quality tools to fit a DVD9 onto a DVD5. Your original post however was to do this while keeping the menus and without encoding. To do this you need tools that can split titles and rebuild the structure so that everything continues to work. Very few tools do this, and the two best I have already listed for you.

If you are willing to compromise slightly, and put a little effort in, you can get a close simulation using free tools, with some re-encoding possibly required.

What you basically need to do is copy the disc contents to your HDD twice. Have a read of this guide for VOBBlanker to see if it will get you started : http://download.videohelp.com/jsoto/guides/VobBlanker/splitdvd9/index.php
