Hi guys, I hope you can help me out with is, must be simple for you.
I have an old PC game from years before in two folders. Now I have to mount these in order for the game to be installed in my new pc.
I dont have the ISOs though, just 2 folders with their data. Me and my husband tried to make 2 different images (ISOs) so that later we could mount them and install the game. With Alcohol 120 we made an mds (or is it mdf file?) on our new pc called for example Destination. Now this dms Destination file has the contents of both folders if I'm thinking correctly. Then we have to burtn this mds into a dvd as an image (ISO) file so that later we can mount this new dvd and install the game.
Am I going in the correct path here? To put it in a nutshell, we want to make image files from these two folders. Can we do it with Isobuster, Nero, Alcohol120? And how?
Also, after some experiments and after some mounting with Daemon tools we ended up with two image drives in our new pc. How can we get rid of these two image drives? If we close Daemon tools and then select No to leave emulation options enabled, will this do the trick?
I hope this makes sense to you. Thank for your time guys.

Describe in detail how these "two folders" were created. Also how, if ever, they have been utilized to play currently.

I don't think it will work. I assume you originally installed the game from a disc. The resultant folders you have will rely on info created, during setup, related to your current rig, registry settings etc. Simply moving the folders to your new rig will not work, the game has to be setup on your new rig.

For Daemon Tools, from the taskbar icon, set the number of drives to zero and they should disappear. I don't have it on this computer, so I can't guarantee that's correct.
What MysticE said. Unless you have the installer included with those files, you may not get it to work. Look for a 'setup' or similarly named program in there.
Folder2ISO may be the easy way, especially if you just want CD size ISO files. Those other programs, including Nero can also make ISO files. Nero calls them .nrg and Alcohol .mds, I believe. Daemon should be able to mount those or a .iso or BIN/CUE image file. -
Unless these folders were image files of the original installation CD(s), what you are attempting to do will not work.
If these games are old enough to be DOS games and NOT windows, copying the folders as standard files, no images or ISO's or disks, just copy the files, the game Might run though you will probably need a DOS emulator.
Windows-based could possibly work, as well, though less likely. Again just a simple file copy.
The only real way what you are attempting would work is if the ORIGINAL CD's were COPIED to the HARD DRIVE using a CD IMAGING program. Then you could create disks from these images and install as normal from the CD's.
Otherwise, the folders created during installation DO NOT contain all the necessary data to create a NEW installation. -
Well...at first I had two image files of each cd which then I used with Isobuster to make the two folders I have now.
The game is in Windows and it was downloaded about a month ago.
So these two folders wont do the work by themselves, I have to find the ISO's and then I can mount them and install.
Thank you for your help guys, I really appreciate it!
