I burned 3 of them with different movies on them and no luck. I ripped the movies with smart ripper and burned them with nero. On my computer I can watch the movies however if I open the Vob files with either WinDVD or PowerDVD. Does anybody know why they won't play on stand alone DVD players????

  2. Hi there!
What standalone DVD player are you using? There are a whole bunch of them that don't play anything different from Region 1 coding, for example. Also, most of them don't play CD-R or even DVD-R. Another thing: don't forget to put vobs into "Video_ts" folder and burn them in UDF/ISO mode for max compatibility.
    Good luck, buddy!

You can't just put Vobs in a folder, name it VIDEO_TS and burn it.

If it's a single layer DVD, you can use movie backup in Smart Ripper to rip/demacro. the files, the burn both the VIDEO_TS & AUDIO_TS folders.

Other options are to use stream extract method for just the video and audio, (you'll end up with a .m2v and .ac3 file) then reauthor. You could also rip, and re-encode the whole thing, then author, then burn.

Or check IFO Edit's Forum or Derrow's Page and the IFO Guide from Doom9

The standalone DVD players I have are the Apex AD-660 and the Sony DVP-S330. I've also tried it on a Sony DVP-S360 the burned movies wouldn't work in any of them. I followed the guides on this site to the letter both when I ripped them and burned them they still don't work however does the region code really matter? The DVD are burned region free. How do I extract the streams (Audio/Video) form the vob files anyways?
