    Hello,

I'm unable to play mpeg files in Windows Media Player.

I have the K-Lite Full Codec pack installed so i'm assuming that i do have the correct codec installed to play the file and they have worked in the past.

All other file types work other than mpeg/mpg.

I have rollbacked WMP and then updated it to WMP 11 again.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Uh oh. About the worst thing you could have done to your system. Like killing a mosquito with a shot gun. If it at all solves the problem, it'll surely destroy much more.
By default, WMP can't play mpeg2 - you need some mpeg2 codec.

    I've installed the mpeg2 codec..

The videos have worked before but have suddenly begun to stop working..

They work in any other media player other than WMP..

    However,

I prefer to use Windows Media Player over any other which is the primary reason i'ld rather resolve it than completley scrap it..

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

    Thanks,

    Iain.

    I've previously tried that.

It says that the PowerDVD codec is compatible.

However i am using WMP11 and i reverted back to WMP10 and the problem still persisted.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Iain.

The problem isn't whether it is compatible or not, the problem is getting WMP to use the codec. If I read correctly, the tool also allows you to set which codecs WMP uses.

What about that quartz.dll trick? Seems to cure things when DirectShow based players croak.
