i was trying to use FFmpegX with encoding via mpeg2enc. I put all the settings that i wanted and hit encode. After hitting the encode button and a few seconds go by the progress bar says it is finished encoding. I'm pretty sure this is a bit off seeing how the file is at least 800 megs.
is there something that i am doing wrong? any help would greatly be appreciated.

What are the characteristics of the source file? VIDEO_TS from DVD? If so, a common source of this type of early termination is choice of wrong title (ffmpegX defaults to Title 1, but not all movies have the main feature there. Use something like D-Vision or VLC to identify the correct title).
In any case, click on the "i" button on the progress window. The log file is useful in diagnosing these sorts of problems.
