    Hi,
I have an mp4 video that has different languages & different subtitles to itchoose when playing it. I'm able to play on the pc fine but I want to convert it to either DVD format, or AVI with DIVX or XVID encoding. Then I can burn it to a dvd disc or a cd if I make it an AVI. I still want to access the different languages and subtitles after doing this. Reason being I have a dvd player which plays divx files. I don't want to lose any quality. Please help me out on how I would go about this.

you can also patch the fourcc code to XVID or DIVX, since these are all MPEG-4. Try this tool: https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=AVI_FourCC_Code_Changer

Use gspot to determine the file type , it could be mkv , mp4 , mpeg4 , so lets be certain first of what it is .

Avi to dvd requires encoding from avi to mpeg1 or mpeg2 , depending on needs .

Then theres the hassle of grabbing those included subtitles , and processing them to suite .

Throw in audio encoding , to maybe ac3 , from the origianl format .

Then on to the dvd authoring process , before going on to media .

    ----

The avi reprocessing would be faster , but if the video is already using the prefered compressor , then it would defeat the entire exercise , unless it needs to be smaller , which might include , resize video , lower video bitrate , lower audio bitrate , change from stereo to mono , and any other combination .

I used that program and it came up with these results:
    Audio: Codec - mp4a: MPEG-4 AAC LC, Info - 44100Hz 79 kb/s tot , stereo (2/0)
    Video: Codec - mp4v, Info - MPEG-4 Video
Both of the status' were undertimined. Now I don't mind what I need to make this DIVX/XVID or DVD format as long as I don't lose quality in anything. Just tell me everything I need to do & what programs to. I know a bit, but not alot.
    Thanx

Use mp4box/YAMB to demux. It should set the FourCC to XVID or something else appropriate by default. The audio you would need to re-encode (although technically AVI-Mux GUI can mux aac to an avi container).
