my pioneer dv343 just isnt cutting it and im looking for a dvd player that will play up to say 6000 bitrate without choking, and one that will play xsvcd interlaced @ 720x480 ntsc and also 720x576 pal. any ideas?

Have you thought about checking out the DVD-players compatibility list?

This is a really good compatibility list, which should be able to give you the answer to your question...
