    what are the best settings on the encoder to get the highest quality flv that doesnt stutter on playback?

    The FLV encoder defaults to 12 fps. For smoother playback, set the framerate higher, like: same as source (either NTSC/NTSC Film/PAL).

    thanks. though i keep getting a zero k file everytime i encode. why would that be?

    The log should tell what would stop the encoding process. You can access the log by pressing the blue "i" () in the Progress window. If you post that log here, then us forum members can have a look.
