  1. this dvd player seems to only be available at costco. I can't find it anywhere else. when playing an svcd, it skips, is this a common problem? Could it be my dvd player, or something else?
I used TMPeng for encoding and Nero 5.5 for burning

  2. .

Tools you need: TMPGEnc to convert videos at mpeg-2 and VCDEasy.

    TMPGenc:

    -start TMPGEnc
    -load video source
-load the correct SVCD Template (NTSC or PAL)
    -load unlock template (dir Extra)
-now in TMPGEnc Settings Select under Rate control mode Constant bitrate(CBR) and use 2500 Kbit/s
*-or try Constant quality(CQ) in settings as Maximun 2500 kbps and Minimun set to 0 or 300 kbps.
-VBV buffer size set to 224 KB instead of 112 KB
    -start encode

    VCDEasy:

    -Select SVCD 1.0
    -Select your CD Writer
    -Name the CD
-Select where to make the temporarily output
    -Add your SVCD mpg file(s)
-Now it is just to hit Go
