While fishing through a ton of sites to make my firewire dl to my laptop...

I saw some animation of how you can network multiple STB's and fire and fling shows and recordings between each box. Unfortunately I briefly looked at the page that described the functionality and closed it since it didn't have nothing to do with dvr-to-laptop via firewall thing..

Now that I know how to capture.. my curiosity for what I can do with the lan connection behind my dct3416-I is growing... anyone give it go with plugging it into a router? how can you use that connection? how do you set it up?

I imagine you need some server software and the software will determine the functionality.. but still just wondering who delved into the area and can say anything about it...

    Thanks

  2. Verizon FIOS tv has a Multiroom dvr but only allows sharing of recorded dvr content and photos/music from pc sharing. I think the bandwidth limits of cat5 prevent video from pc access. And of course your Verizon provided dvr has to be setup via software and you have to have FIOS. Only other thing I can think of for what you describe is the Sling Box type of media server.
