    I have a SRT.subtitle (23.976 FPS) 8)
And i think my movie has about 23 FPS, nut i dont think that is the right fps (.AVI) 8)
The re-nameing trick is NOT an option

    Two questions:
How do i find the exact FPS of my movie?? :P
And isn`t it a program out there that just make the subtitle fit without needing to know the FPS?

I tried to use the subtitle workshop but it does not support 23 fps and when i try 23.976 the text miss with several seconds

  2. Hi-

How do i find the exact FPS of my movie??

Open it in GSpot. Or open it in VDub(Mod) and go File->File Information.

About the subs. I really doubt your subs are meant to fit a movie at 23fps. It'll almost certainly be for a 23.976fps movie, or a 25fps movie. You have 2 ways it can be off. One is that it's off by the same amount all the way through. The other is that it gets more and more off as the movie goes along. Or both at the same time. The first can be fixed by adjusting the delay. The second by changing from 23.976fps to 25fps, or vice-versa. What programs you use for these things depends on the format of the subs (IDX/SUB, SRT, SSA, etc.) and what's wrong with them.

So, if you have 23.976fps subs, and they get more and more off as the movie goes along, and you find out the movie is 25fps, then you know what to do, eh? If they're just off by a few seconds all the way through, change the delay or offset.

Ok i now know the movie is 23.976...
then it must be the subs that have wrong fps...
when i got the subs i just assumed that they where 23.976 but i think thats wrong...

any idea how to find out the original fps of the subs??? it didnt stand on the site i`ve downloaded from...

Ps: i still have backup copies of the original subs.. so they are have the exact same fps as when i downloaded...

  4. It can be done with Subtitleworkshop.
Play the movie and look for exact time for first subtitle. Write it down. Now play the end of movie and write down the exact time for the last subtitle.
Load the srt in SW. Edit->Timings->Adjust
Set the start time of first and last subtitles. Click Adjust. Save and test. If you are lucky they are in synch.
