  1. I have a movie i was given that is in an AVI format. I am going to use WinAvi to re-dub it into a smaller file to burn on a CD-R. I am curious though, it asks for mpeg1 or mpeg2. What is the differences? quality? size? etc... Should I use mpeg1 or mpeg2 for my re-dub???

I have a toshiba dvd player that will play mpeg's so I'm sure it will play either. just wondering.

avis are usually squished about as much as possible without losing alot of quality. what are you going to play the smaller files with once you convert them?

    1. you'll find no fans of Winavi here.
    2. unless you have huffyuv or dv in that avi file the visual result of what you're trying to attempt is going to be shit
    3. mpeg4->mpeg2 means going to a greater filesize. up to 3-4 times the original mpeg4 avi.
    4. if your toshiba can play mpeg4 you can re-encode to something it likes and squeeze it to a single cd.
    5. post more details details details
6.starting by using gspot to get info on your avi file.

    what else do you need?
i am rather new to this so if winavi is NOT a good program then what would u guys recommend to use to convert an avi to a mpeg file?

something rather easy to use for novices would be nice.

    thanks for your help

guess you are new here. you can't ask for help with pirated movies here. don't ever mention anything about them again or you could get banned.
