My dvd recorder suddenly stopped reading any discs and got a No Read message on the front panel. I made sure that the discs was clean, but it does not want to read anything.

It also makes a weird noise when there is no disk in it all. All I did was powered it on, and there was clicking noise for a few seconds.

It is brand new. I just brought it back in February 2007.

it sounds like your recorder is shot you can try to reset it to factory reset thats if you can get to the setup part on your dvdr i have a ilo dvdr04 i replaced it 4 times from wal-mart until they stopped making that ver. so i took my recorder out of my computer thats a 16 speed it works fine except the fastfoward some times freezes up so i had to unplugged it and plugged it back in it worked then but some times still frezzes up when i use the fastforward so i bought a lg brand it is duel layerd mabe thats why it works better i dont know from sams it works fine now but you will have to cut a hole in the front of your dvdr or make one on the back to slide your power cord and strap thur that goes to the back of recorder i put my recorder on top of my dvdr but to put it inside i think you will have to make your hole bigger in front thay came out with a 20 speed but i dont know if that will work or not i think the recorder gets to hot inside the dvdr and it burns them up since i put mine on top of my dvdr it has not quit me yet it has lasted me longer then all my ilos put together you can try this to see if it works i would like to see if it does i also tried a 8 speed first but it did not work i think the dvdr has a 16 speed recorder in it so it has to have a 16 speed to replace it with

  3. I would unplug it from the wall for a few minutes then plug it back it. This forces a hardware reset in many recorders.
