i got an 80gb ipod video for christmas, and put some videos on there and they played fine. One day i tried to play a video and all it did was give me a loud screeching noise and a thumbnail of the video. I thought just the video was bad so i re-encoded all my videos using total video converter. None of the 3 ipod formats worked so i tried videora and none of those worked either. Is there something physically wrong with my ipod?

    Hi,
Have you tried doing the "restore" function in iTunes 7? You will have to wipe it to restore it so make sure you have all your files backed up in your library. Also make sure that your firmware is updated to the latest version (also in iTunes 7.0 or higher). If it still plays your music files OK, then it probably is not a mechanical defect.
