    Hi,
I have recently installed AutoGK 4.2 which automatically installs VirDubMod, AviSynth, and a copy of Lame.exe. My first 2 AutoGK sessions went fine with no errors and the quality of the rip was excellent (when checked on VirDubMod). I specified AC3 and MP3 audio output respectively.

The problem is that I am no longer able to play any of my movies with MPEG-1 Layer-3 audio on the regular players like WinAmp and WMP. AC3 movies had the same problem but it was fixed when I reinstalled the decompressor and filter. I tried removing the MP3 Audio codec and reinstalling for no avail.

One bizzare thing I have noticed. If I restart my computer and try to play the "Ripped" mp3 movie before attempting to play any other movie, it will play fine on the first try. But once I close the player, I can't play it, or any other mp3 movie, again. The Player just stands still after the movie is loaded.

The AVICodecs shows that the 0055 MP3 codec is supported.

Anyone encountered this problem after installing AutoGK? Suggestions? Guesses?

    Thank you.

I don't think it's a filter related conflict, maybe there is something wrong with your encodes.
Do musicfiles (mp3) play in winamp or in your regular player?
Try to play the movies with MediaPlayerClassic.

Gspot to help indicate which filters are used to decode , and to reset priority levels .

http://paul.glagla.free.fr/filmerit_en.htm , another , better tool , just read the page on how to use it , very good at removing redundant information from the registry left behind due to codec install / uninstall stuff ups making changes .

Once offender removed , it can be reinstalled , even quick to de-register and re-register filters , which sometimes dose work .

Problem is knowing "who" was the default "priority filter" to start with .

I think vlc might be a shortcoming choice to get you past the current problem , and the less you mess with codec installs , and adjusting filters , the less problems you will have to deal with in the long run .

Wow, FileMerit did it. Great tool, I only needed to delete the filters with missing links and everything worked beautifully.

I owe you one Bjs. Now, why did it take me too long to think of seeking help at VideoHelp?

Thank you Bjs. Thank you gsing.
