  1. Hello,

I have a 608 x 336 resolution video, and im using TMPGEnc to convert it.

I want to know which format, aspect ratio, etc i have to use to have a nice resolution once played in a dvd player. Im using NTSC but when i play it, the video looks shrinked.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Regards.

The resolutions for DVD are fixed, and don't reflect the proportions (Aspect Ratio) of the video, which can be either 4:3 or 16:9. 720x480 is the highest (and most common) NTSC DVD res. 608x336 is close enough to 16:9, so I'd simply resize to 720x480, with the 16:9 flag set.

If you want exact resizing, use AviSynth + FitCD

  3. In TMPGEnc set the Source Asepct Ratio to 1:1 VGA, set Video Arrange Method to Full Screen (Keep Aspect Ratio). The output frame size should be 720x480, and the Aspect Ratio 16:9. That will create a 16:9 anamorphic MPEG2 file. If you prefer a letterboxed 4:3 file set The Aspect Ratio to 4:3.
