I am using TMPEGenc 2.5 and i am converting xvid/divx to dvd ready mpeg. I used to have a 128 mb video card and i just reformated and upgraded to a 512 mb faster video card and it seems that my video is taking much longer to encode(like 3-4 Hours per movie). Any tips to make my encoding speed faster or any other programs that would be better/faster to use? Should i upgrade to a never version of tmpeg ?
thanks for any help.

Your Video card has no effect whatsoever on your encoding time.
I still use TMPGEnc Plus 2.5 and it is fine - great quality albeit a tad slow. However I've added convertxtodvd to my arsenal and it does a pretty good job for the quick n dirty stuff. Many here swear by CCE, which in combination with AVISynth can give quite outstanding results in pretty quick time.
As for other settings in TMPGEnc, see http://members.dodo.net.au/~jimmalenko/AVI2DVD.htm for the settings I use.
The key things to note are:
1. Don't use TMPGEnc's filtering or resizing; use AVISynth and frameserve
2. Don't use a Motion Search Precision of Very High - High offers negligible difference in quality for significant decrease in time (use motion estimate search if your source is decent)
3. Ensure that all boxes are ticked on the Option > Environmental Setting > CPU tab
These three things in combination should get you humming. If in doubt, Google it.
