Can't encode .x264 files

Well the thing is I have a x624 AVI not mkv, I can open it in WMP and other programs no problem but when I try to load it in vdub or tempgenc it wont let me, I've tried it with and without ffdshow as well in tempgenc I tried to adjust the vfapi-plugin and that didnt help. Any ideas ?

theewizard: super worked, there was audio in the output file but when I load it in TDA it didnt pick it up, I'll put it thru tmpgenc again and make sure its correct.
