From a previous post on March 18th under "dvd problems"
This is just to say after all the problems I had ( and I appreciate all the help I got) and all the different things I tried. I ended up updating the bios which worked for a day or two. Then I got problems again so I thought I might as well try the cmos battery which has only been in about 1 - 1 1/2 years and I havent had any problems since.
I'm only writing this for two reasons. Firstly incase anyone gets the same problems I had which were really frustrating because things worked then they didn't work etc etc. Nothing "stopped" for definate if you know what I mean.
And secondly I didn't think of the battery because all of the other computers I have had, when the cmos battery is low it starts losing the date and time. This motherboard doesn't. Its an Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe. There is nothing to let you know that the battery is on its way out. (thats assumimg it WAS the battery but I haven't had any problems since. so..).
And the funny thing is, even when I removed the battery and put a new one in I didn't have to set the date and time or anything else which I think is strange but there you go.
