MKVExtractGUI requires mkvtoolnix to be installed to the same directory to work. Do you have both installed to the same directory?

It only extracts to the same format-mkv.

I extracted the files but virtual dub mod doesn't read them-errors all over the place so I can't use that to convert to avi.

I can play the file on my pc with vlc media player but i need it to be avi so I can use it with sms media player for the ps2.

    download the mkvextratGUI

it's a zip/rar file unzip and place the files in the mkvmerge folder

    run mkv extract

press the rest button drag & drop your file into contents window

if it does not show you the video & audio tracks

    do reset and try again

took four try for me to get it going

then check ONLY one box the video track and then click the extract button

after that choose the audio tract and extract it

then use avidemux2 to mux them together as a playable Xvid file

if your planning on a DVD , skip the mux step

you will need to run the avi video thru your encoder to get an m2v file for gfd

or use the muxed xvid with convertX

OR you try super but it will make the file bigger and take longer

I've been using MKVExtractGUI for demuxing (more like unzipping) mkv, and I extract it all (I never can get the subs right. Then use Goldwave to make a ack walrus (Ogg Vorbis) to mp3/wav. Then I use VirtualDub, making a nice Divx/Xvid AVI that's compatible... If only everyone learned mp4 and AVI are more compatible than mkv...
    MKV: Merely Krappy Video.

Subbers, a request from an avid viewer: Either don't use mkv, or supply avi or mp4 as an alternative.

you can use super to extract the audio directly from the mkv to ac3, just be sure the sampling rate is set for 48000 and the bit rate is 192,224 or 384

that way the stream won't have to reprocessed

super also has a volume increase option that works very well, and does not adversely affect the timing ( doesn't mess it up )
