Has anybody here upgraded from Office 2003 to Office 2007?
I had a bitch of a time getting Outlook '03 set up to pull mail from all the various servers I use.
If I upgrade, will it keep all my Outlook settings, .pst files, contacts, etc?
If not, can I use the "Microsoft Office 2003 Save My Settings Wizard" to save all my settings and then access those saved '03 settings with whatever "wizard" '07 has?
I would ask Micro$oft, but they want 99 ******* dollars to send an email and finding information on their tech support site is an impossible nightmare wrapped in a riddle, covered in propaganda....
TIA!!!

It will carry everything over without almost any problems.
We've done many many many installsand many to go.
I think 2007 sucks
It takes for ever to open files attached in emails.
It takes even longer to open an URL link in an email
You need a PC with at least 1Gb RAM and 1ghz CPU, if not go get a cup a coffee any time you open anything.
We have trouble tickets opened already with MS and it's slow response times.
If you have any add-in in office 2003 (like abobe print to pdf) uninstall them first. Most are no longer compatibale.
If you use LiveMeeting, uninstall the Office 2003 plug-in and get the latest version. -

*1* 2 gigahertz (GHz) processor or higher and 1 GB RAM or higher recommended for OneNote Audio Search. Close-talking microphone required. Audio Search not available in all languages.
*2* 512 MB RAM or higher recommended for Outlook Instant Search. Grammar and contextual spelling in Word is not turned on unless the machine has 1 GB memory.
It doesn't say anywhere on their site that you need at least 1G RAM, but in no way am I doubting your word on this. Minimum system requirements = minimum performance...
I'm running an Athlon XP 2400+ with 3/4G RAM.
Mebbe I'll shop around and see how much a couple 1G sticks are.
This $21.00 version of Office 2007 has already cost me $130.00!"To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." - Steven Wright

also remmeber the requirements of XP and any apps you're running.
I'm just talkin base install
BTW, lookout for the WSUS (MS Updates) updates look at 99% CPU usage and a svhost.exe to reach 140MB in processes -
There's a lot of email clients out there besides Outlook. I use PocoMail. And there are many others. This might be a good time to try a few of them. I can get my email from several different servers, with different addresses and passwords, with no problem. I can format my email client any way I want, and filter and direct the emails to most any folder or mailbox. Don't chain yourself to what MS thinks you need or want. Explore a little. I have never used Outlook and never will. JMO
EDIT: I've looked at Office 2007. Don't need it, don't want it. Office 2003 does all I need. When I have no other choice, I may upgrade, but not now. If all else fails, look into Open Office. It's freeware for individuals, and opens most any MS Word file and more: http://www.openoffice.org/
