  1. I have edited a 700 mb divx avi movie that looks like it was compressed with the 3ivx codec according to g-spot. The problem is that after I saved the movie after the rendering, some parts of the movie are out of sync with the video -- meaning that conversation goes on when people's mouths are not moving.

I have used the compression options DivX 6.4 Codec (1 logical CPU) and the 3ivx codec with the same bad results. And I have also used the Fast Recompress and Normal Recompress. I am not even really what sure what video compression options to use.

I have saved the edited movie with the "Save as AVI" and "Save Old Format AVI." Don't really know the difference. Otherwise I have no clue how to save this movie.

Is there any way I can save this movie and keep the video and sound syncrhonized?

Review the original Divx file in GSpot - does it say you have VBR MP3 audio by any chance?

Assuming it does, when you first load the file in VirtualDub you get a message about improper VBR audio and changing it to CBR headers and introducing skew blah blah.

When you click on OK to accept this message, that's where your out of synch comes from - that's the audio skew referred to in the message.

I've never used it, but try Virtualdub MP3 Freeze - it has built in support for VBR MP3 audio.
There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.

    Carpe diem.
