I made a DVD-R directly in my new Panasonic VDR 300 camcorder, then I wanted to make a copy of it, but Nero went thru about 92% of the copy procedure, then said "unable to copy." When I played the DVD back on the PC, it froze about 92% of the way thru, and so I clicked play 2 or 3 times and it continued. Is there anyway to fix this video glitch please? I have the Nero text log on the problem. I don't have expensive video editing software.

With mp3 or wav, I can cut out the tiny bad part with freeware, but I doubt if it is that easy, once on a DVD.

Another question in case there is no way I can fix it, could a professional copy DVD person do it?

    Thank you,
    God bless,

Thanks for the info. I have Isobuster downloaded.
Now another question. After isobuster copies the DVD to the HD, I assume I will be able to either take out the whole track that has a glitch in it or somehow guess where the glitch is and cut it out like Audacity. But then, once the changes are made and saved on the HD, will isobuster burn for me a new DVD from the HD or will Nero 6 oem?

While waiting for answers to my above questions about isobuster, I went ahead and let isobuster extract the DVD on the HD.

In extracting folders and files it had to replace several sectors with zeroes because it couldn't be read. OK.

Then it red X'ed the glitched track. I right clicked and chose the bolded option, then a window said "incomplete image file. It contains gaps because of unsucessful reads," and to put it on another drive and try reading it again. I don't have another drive.

I just clicked ok. It did some more checking/recovering and when finished, marked one of the recovered files with a red X. I right clicked on it and chose the bolded choice of "Extract recovered file, then a window flew up and said I have to buy the isobuster pro to use this option.

So, I have no idea if the glitch was fixed or where to go from here. Any suggestions, besides buying it? Where do I go from here? HELP, please.

    1) Thank you for your reply but
    2) I don't think you can erase a DVD-R that has been finalized, and, if I erased it, I would be wiping out family videos that aren't all glitched--just one track or section.
    3) If the DVD itself is bad then it doesn't mean Nero malfunctioned.
    4) What is a recommended burner that doesn't cost an arm and a leg instead of Nero please?

For future reference discs are not all made equally, buy good media. http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/

Sorry can't help you with your problem but I've no doubt someone will be able to tell you how to extract at least the 92% of usable video.

If the camera has outputs (usb 2.0,firewire or s-video), the camera should be able to play back the disc at least until it reaches 92%. Capture what you can to your computer or a friends.

Firewire is preferred, usb 2.0 second and s-video if you have no other choice. You could play the disc in your computer with VLC and stream save the output until 92% when it will hang trying to read something that isn't there.

You might also try software intended to rip copy protected dvds, check the tool section for freeware. The copy protections now in common use usually involve making some part of the disc unreadable. The rip software will simply bypass what can't be read, leaving you with the rest.

If all else fails, send me a pm. I have a Mac and some pretty good tools.

The Panasonic VDR 300 has only a USB port. I tried playing back the movie thru the Dell laptop. It played back.

I had already captured it to the PC using isobuster. I thought isobuster would fix it and then by using ifoedit and vboedit (as per instructions) to re-create a new dvd, but I only have a Dell oem of PowerDVD to test it with before burning and it won't play it.

Maybe I should just delete the vob that isobuster said was the bad one, (altho I thought isobuster freeware could fix it. I guess it can't.) Then try iso & vobedit again. Or take it to a professional to fix.

Have you tried VLC or DVD Decrypter? VLC can play almost anything, even damaged files, though you'll have to suppress the error messages by checking a box when it pops up.

Stream save the output from VLC as an avi, but don't transcode the audio or video.

If you lost a key frame in the video disc, then the best you can do is splice around it.

Take the disc to someone with a different brand of computer and see if their dvd drive has better luck. The mini discs are not universally readable.

No, I haven't tried either VLC or Decrypter. Do they require that I change the video's format, which they say, leads to deterioration of the video when turned back to DVd format?

PowerDVD & Nero play the video; getting stuck a little at the 92% spot, but after some frozen seconds continue to play out the video. (Nero plays without sound cause they want me to buy an add-on.)

So I don't think it is the DVD player, but I will see if it plays ok on my friend's PC.
