  1. When ripping Scream, DVD2AVI says it is 4:3 but I know the film to be 16:9...now I could understand if it was a 4:3 picture with the black bars but this picture is full screen in DVD2AVI....
    same happens with shawshank redemtion...

    Why is this happening?

    Cheers

This is an anamorpic movie. This means: the picture is stretched vertically. Your standalone player will correct this, and give a 16:9 output.

  3. Anamorphic movie have the black bars in the video stream on the disk, as opposed to having the real display. This really pisses off the people who buy the 16:9 tv's, only to now get black bars on the top and bottom, and now both sides. Ha!!! I'm sorry, I laugh at that every time I think about it!

    Sorry to correct you:

but anamorphic movies have no black bars. For 16:9 TVs anamorpic (S)VCDs are great, as they are full screen, and will have the correct aspect ratio.
