    hello

I been pulling out my hair trying to figure out how to convert my Movies(.avi with .sub/.idx and .srt) into a DvD that is playable in a Stand a lone Dvd player. (Edit I'm not trying to convert it to NTSC format, but rather keep it as .avi format in a Dvd)

After trying out 4 Dvd players and none of them were able to pick up subtitles .

Now, I think I might have messed up somewhere now, and need help.

I've been using Nero to burn my movies into a Data file. Threw in the .sub/.idx and any other format in each folder as well. But, the dvd players just won't pick it up. Unless the movie was hardcoded with subtitles.

I'm obviously doing something wrong here. So please Enlighten me with some wisdom.

    Any help is much appreciated.

What subtitle format do your Divx players use? .srt seems fairly common.
But you would get more answers in our Subtitle forum. Moving you.

Look to the 'Stickies' at the top of that forum for answers to more common questions.

    And welcome to our forums.

samsung hd-870 I just picked this one up today. I haven't even opened it yet as I'm reading up on on info here.

I just ripped out the user manual , and all it says is DivX says nothing about what format.

Oh and yes, I do name all my files exactly the same. I can play it on my computer VLC, Real media player and BS player.

i don't know much about divx players but if you want to try using other subtitle formats then use Subtitle Workshop . load up your current subtitle and save it as a different one. .ssa maybe? eh hope that helps a little.
