I have VLC 0.8.6 installed.
I have tried to play Divx's with 5.1 ac3 ....and
DVDs with 5.1 Ac3 soundtracks.
But it doesnt work!!
I just get a kind of pulsing sound when I select the
A/52 over SPDIF!!
I can play stereo option.
I have my motherboard/onboard sound connected via optical link
to my 5.1 surround sound amp.
I can get 5.1 Ac3 sound output via this link
when using media player classic 6.4.9
and zoom player 5!!
But for some reason all I get when I try and select
A/52 over SPDIF...as I said ...is a kind of pulsing noise.
its almost like the soundtrack is out of phase/sync...
Its so annoying ...anyone have suggestions or tips to fix this?????
TIA Aussiemac

Have you tried this?
Go to [Preferences] and check [Advanced Options]
Then Expand [Audio] and select [Output modules]
Change [Audio output module] to [Win32 waveOut extension output]
Then click on [Save] and quit and re-start VLC
Try SPDIF output after all that and hopefully it should work. -
