    Howdy all,

I have got some video files from my Ricoh R4 digital still camera. They have .avi file extensions, but do not play on my LG DR165 DVD Recorder which plays DivX files.

The Playable Codec formats as listed by the manual of my DVD player are are DIV3, MP43, DIVX, XVID, DX50.

When I drop my camera avi's into G-Spot, i get the following results:

When I re-encode with Avi ReComp, i get the following results:

Still doesn't play. I would've thought that now has Xvid should play. Other Xvid encoded vids do play, eg.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks heaps, Nathan

It might be the frame rate (30 fps) or more likely the audio codec - Most standalone players do MP3, AC3 in AVI.
You can change this with VirtualDub, provided VD can decode the source audio.

    Thanks 4 the reply.

Just tried VD, didn't work, soon found a forum entry talking about how it cant decode the Microsoft Ccitt U-law codec.

Then re-tried SUPER, worked perfectly! Halved the size, handled the audio codec, plays on the DVD player.

    Cheers, Nathan
