I have a Magnavox MWD7006, which alot of ppl seem to have. I have burned an avi file onto a dvd using nero to create a data dvd. So its on the disc as a data file. When i put it into the player it plays the file, but the file is widescreened in the center of the tv with huge black lines on the top and bottom. My tv is fullscreen so there are two problems with that. I've tried a couple things to try and change the aspect ratio but im not even sure if thats the problem. I found that no matter how the aspect ratio looks on my computer it comes out the same as stated above on the dvd player. Any help would be much appreciated.

What are the dimensions of the AVI file? Try using MPEG4Modifier to check the display aspect ratio too.
-
The dimensions of the avi are 548x226. When i put it in MPEG Modifier, under Aspect Ratio the only thing selected is Square Pixels.

548x226 with square pixels is a 2.4:1 aspect ratio. It should have big black bars top and bottom when viewed on a 4:3 TV. Your computer should display it the same way if you have a 4:3 monitor.

Is there anyway i can change that to 4:3 fullscreen so i can watch it on my tv?

You can crop the sides away or stretch the video vertically.
If you crop, you'll be left with a ~304x226 frame. You'll lose almost half the picture.
You may be able to do the latter without reencoding. Open the file with MPEG4Modifier, Set Display AR to 4:3. Then Save... I don't know if your player will pay any attention to the DAR flag. If it works, everything will be very tall and skinny. Not really a good idea.
You really ought to just learn to live with the black bars.
