Title pretty much says it all...

How can you tell if an MPEG-2 is drop-frame or non drop-frame?

    Thanks

  2. You don't. Drop-frame or non drop-frame refers to timecode. If there isn't any timecode information in your MPEG-2, it doesn't mean anything.

If there is, then you need software that can read the timecode. Typically, drop-frame timcode notation is used for NTSC material (at 29.97 fps).

Such as? I'm looking for something (PC compatible) that will explicitly tell me drop frame or non drop-frame, similar to DVD Studio Pro for the Mac.

Do your MPEG-2s have timecode information?

(If they are MPEG2-TS streams - such as from an HDV camcorder - there will be timecode data.)
