Whenever I buy a movie soundtrack it's usually for a scifi movie.
It should come as no suprise to people here that I own all the soundtracks to all 6 of the Star Wars movies. I also have the Lord of the Rings Fellowship soundtrack. I also have about half of the Star Trek soundtracks as well.
The few nonscifi soundtracks I have are for the Bill and Ted movies as well as the soundtrack to Top Gun and Pretty Woman. Oh and I have the soundtrack to Godzilla (the one with Matthew Broderick in it).
So do you buy movie soundtracks? Or maybe just singles off places like itunes or napster?

Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

Not since Rocky 2 or 3 with "Eye of the Tiger", not even sure if that was a soundtrack but the album.

Just rare soundtracks that I find in used record stores or flea markets....then I sell them to on Ebay...
Voyage Of The Rock Aliens is one of the most rare I've come across recently. -
I think the only soundtracks that I've bought are....
---"Lord of the Dance"
---"The Good, The Bad and The Ugly"
---The original version of "The Flight of the Phoenix".
Usually I buy the DVDs which, of course, have the soundtracks on them!

Rarely.
But I did buy the soundtrack to Ghost Rider after seeing it in the theater.
I though it was going to include all of the music I heard during the closing credits.
Boy, was I wrong.
What a waste.Whatever doesn't kill me, merely ticks me off. (Never again a Sony consumer.) -
They sell soundtracks?
"Shut up Wesley!" -- Captain Jean-Luc Picard
Buy My Books -
Haven't bought one for a few years, but I still listen to the ones I've bought: Mothman Prophecies, Out of Sight, Last Action Hero, Point Break etc.
Problem is, these days, is that soundtacks have become as much 'songs inspired by the film' as songs in the film itself. I thought SWAT had a great film soundtrack but very few of the songs on the movie credits were listed on the CD soundtrack.Regards,

I treat them as any other CD. If I like the music I buy, if not I dont.
I have quite a few - usually Scores - few soundtracks. There is a difference which was not included in the poll.

I do buy the ones I like. But to most people and record stores these days movie soundtrack does not equal movie score but movie songtrack..

If the movie is a musical, we might. My wife and I love a good musical, such as "Chicago" or "Dream Girls" (I liked the DG music, but the movie was WAY too long). We've even bought music soundtracks for made for TV musicals such as "Annie". I had to rip the soundtrack from a few TV musicals on DVD for they didn't release a soundtrack CD. I've been disappointed with my DVD soundtrack rips; the lossy compression really shows when played on a high end system.
Usually long gone and forgotten -
Soundtracks...my specialty. I have over 1,000 of them on CD, and probably another couple hundred on LP. And I'm not talking about pop song albums either, I mean orchestral scores. I do agree that those "Music Inspired By..." albums are a joke.
