I've just installed latest version of VLC player which has a very useful "crop" facility. Is there any filter that I can add to Media Player Classic to give it the same facility? (Crop to 16:9 etc). I prefer to use MPC, AC3 audio on VLC is unbelievably low. Any help appreciated

FFdshow will let you crop and resize.

Turn on advanced settings to increase Ac3 volume in VLC

I’d already cranked up all volume levels on VLC, it only made a marginal difference to AC3. I’m now trying to find correct width and height levels on FFDshow for “crop to 4.3”. This is real hit ‘n’ miss stuff…not as simple as the one-click trick on VLC. A guide would be useful….and thanks for the help

If there is an option in VLC for Dynamic Range supression I'd turn it off.

    In MPC Have you tried:
Video frame -> override aspect ratio
    or
    Pan & scan?

If when using override aspect ratio you don't see any difference, as weird as this sounds, check keep aspect ratio.

I think I’ve found what I need under a combination of the override and widescreen
