I've made plenty of "disposable" CD / DVD with sticky labels over the years and with no noted problems but now I'm looking to create some nicer and more robust DVDs for home videos.

So, I've read the sticky on labels and read a few threads on printable CD/DVD. The label thread is pretty old.

Is it still perceived to be a bad thing to affix adhesive labels to DVD media?

How "reliable" are printable DVD's? Is the media the same as regular non-printable media? I'm looking for DL media, any recommendations?

Is lightscribe worth considering? What is DL media availability / quality like?

Old Chestnut...However, I'll give an opinion.
After going through the the seventh level of hell, with "sticky" labels on my
DVD's a long time ago, I'll never put another one on again!

As for putting them on Dual-Layer discs...Well, for me the term "NOT-ON-YOUR-LIFE"
comes to mind...Dual-Layer has demons of it's own, let alone adding THAT to the equation!

My printable ones, (single-layer) are just as reliable as non-printable ones.
I have no experience with printing Dual-Layer discs. (if they are available? )

Sticky labels on DVDs? No way (at least for me)!

DL media? Only one way to go -> Verbatim! (unless you have holes in your pockets and need coasters!) Verbatim +R DL can be found, on sale, for $2 (US) or less per disc.

The thread is old but the reasons why adhesive labels on DVDs is a bad idea are still valid.
