  1. Hi, is there something I can use to join some mpeg files I got from various sources which have differing audio (AC3 & mpeg I think) & video dimmensions?

I've tried using some audio codec software but couldn't figure it out (yes, I'm a newbie to all of this).

Since I've just come across this different dimension problem as well, I wondered if there was one program that could handle merging/converting/etc. the video to one of the two dimensions doesn't matter which to me since they look the same to me but aren't joining in VideoReDo because of the error messages saying it has diff dimensions & audio, doesn't matter which kind of audio either as long as I can hear it it's fine with me).

Any advice of the easiest way to take care of these 2 issues would be much appreciated as I don't know where else to try on this (I've tried the support board @ the VRD site & with no luck).

Rather than just burning the disc with the mpegs as separate files, I'd like to join them if I can since it's the same program & would like to do the chapter for the "single" program etc.

Thanks for the replies in advance.

Where you have different dimension, one or both clips need to be resized and re-encoded either before joining, or as part of the join. Most simple tools, such as videoredo, will require you do this prior to joining. If you use a full-blown editor, such as Premiere or Vegas then you won't have these restrictions, but you will have to re-encode the entire clip.

VideoRedo is a simple beast. Great at what it does, but that is all it does. You might try Womble Mpeg VCR, which does uch the same thing as VideoRedo, but also does a bit more. It might be abl;e to do what you need, and only re-encode portions of the video and audio as required.
