    Are you good at painting?

Luminance can be fixed and you can apply color pixel by pixel.

Google "Adobe Photoshop" or if you are heavy geek try "Gimp".

You should be able to colorize a scanned photograph with a graphics editor like PhotoShop, or others that let you mask a area off and tint it. You would need to select just one part at a time and apply like a 10% tint, then go on to the next part and color. But it's tedious work and the results really don't look that good.

Give your black and white photos that authentic "Turner Classics" look. Off skin tones, over saturated clothing and purple skies.

All of these are valid suggestions, but it will only look good if you have a good eye. Nothing will automate the process and give you good results.

  6. You can tint them easily enough, if that's good enough for you.
