Hi all,
A few days ago I purchased a Asus DRW-1608P3S, I am currently burning a dvd (data) and I burnt a dvdr (movie) but when I was burning the mvoie on average it should take 5 mins, this took almost 30 mins. When it was burning the read buffer and buffer level where not steady they where bouncing all over the show. On my previous dvd writers they did not do this they stayed static at 100%.
Could this be a faulty dvd writer drive, or soemthing else?

Check your dma - instructions here:

Hmmmm - was hoping for a simple solution. It could be something simple like the media you are using is not recognized by the drives firmware and is defaulting to a 2x or 4x default strategy. What media are you using and what firmware came with your drive? I think the most current stock firmware is 1.24 if I recall.Originally Posted by narl

If that's the ide cable you've been using they can fail. Buy a new 80 wire ide cable and see if that fixes the problem. It's very cheap! Also use IMGBURN instead of NERO BURN & DVD DECRYPTER to burn dvd media. DVD DECRYPTER is no longer updated but IMGBURN is. The author is the same for IMGBURN & DVD DECRYPTER.Originally Posted by narl

The imgburn website seems to be down at this time. Try later to access it. If using a new 80 wire ide cable doesn't solve your problem and the IMGBURN doesn't work as well then your drive is probably defective.
