    Howdy,

I have some family video that I took using my digital camera (Fuji finepix S5200) and the AVI files come out ridiculously large. I have one for example that is 3 minutes and came out at 216MB.
What free software can I use to make it a more reasonable size and is there anything I should know before going at it (i.e.: avoid de-sync of audio for example). I am not attached to any specific format but I will be sending it to my folks so it needs to play on WMP.

    Thanks a lot.

You should have Windows Movie Maker on you computer, try that.

I'd suggest keeping a copy of the original for archiving if it's something you want to preserve.

If you want it smaller out of the camera, change the settings for recording. Reduce the resolution and quality, and you will get smaller files. Or do it later in your PC. If WMM does open it, try either SUPER or Virtualdub.
