Hi Guys, new to the forum, not too sure where to post this.

I am usually able to find a solution to my video editing problems but this time I am stumped. I have some tv episodes that I got from a buddy but for some reason I cannot play them on my DVD player which can play AVI files.

When I put the file into GSpot I get only the following info

    Code:
    File Type: Ogg Media
    Mime Type: application/x-ogg
I assume this means that the audio is encoded using ogg and not mp3 encoding, which is why my DVD player cannot handle it.

Can anyone suggest how I can convert these files to xvid/divx with mp3 encoding (if this is what I need to do).

I have tried opening the files in VirtualDub, but I get an "error opening file type" error.

If I use VirtualDubMod I can open the file but I cannot export the sound or if I try re encoding using divx or xvid then I get no sound in the output.

I have also tried AutoGK and an older version of DrDivx but each gives me a file error (obv due to the ogg encoding.)

    any suggestions ???

Do the files actually have the extension .ogm?

Ogg-format movies are often (at least, in my experience) Xvid AVI video streams with Vorbis audio streams (ogg format). You can use OGM Demuxer (command-line program, but you can create a shortcut and drop the OGM videos on it) or VirtualDubMod to separate/demux the streams, then convert the audio to MP3... and ultimately combine the AVI with the MP3 audio stream in VirtualDubMod. (I find it easier to just demux using OGM Demuxer, but that's just me.)
If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?

Ok thanks I will try the OGMDemuxer. I tried using VDubMod to separate the streams, but I can't find the "save as wav" option that the original VDub has. Am I missing something ?

Sorry I just took a closer look at VDubMod and found the place where i can rip the sound out of the file. Thanks for the tips, it put me in the right place.
