  1. How do i figure out which ones i need, and which ones to kill with Codec Sniper? I have 188 of them. Aren't they just redundant versions of another? I have an ADS Tech DVD Xpress unit and it's not capturing, so i think i have too many codecs and mabey deleting some will fix the problem.

  2. What do you mean it's not capturing? Are you using Capwiz or trying to capture through some other package?

  3. yes, i am using capwiz, the software that came with it. The unit works, it's just something fishy with the software. I've installed, uninstalled, and installed again about 4 times, and there's still a problem with it capturing any video. So i think that all these damn codecs on here are maybe conflicting with the one capwiz uses.

  4. Ok, I don't know what you mean by fishy, but to answer your question, you can just nuke all of them and re- install them as you require. All that will happen is a piece of media won't play. When you re-load CODECs try to use solutions that are more versatile like FFDshow. If you kill the ones used by Capwiz, you'll just have to re-install it.

  5. well, i got some good news. I nuked them all with codec sniper and it fixed the problem! I have another capture card, a Pinnacle, and when i pulled it out of the system, i guess i left remnants of the software. That was causing a conflict, i guess. thanks for your help!
