I just downloaded the latest Xvid codec 1.1.2 so that I could watch divx/xvid in Windows Media Player. It worked for playback but...............everyone looks red-ish. Everything else on my PC looks fine except this.

I reset the settings on my monitor and that didn't fix it. Rest my video card settings - still nothing. What could be causing this red-ish tone? Is it the codec? WMP? Video Card?

BTW, my video card is a EVGA (Nvidia) 8800 GTS

    Thanks in advance

One easy way to check is to use a program like VLC Media Player and see if it plays correctly. If so, it's likely a codec problem. Maybe not with Xvid, but with another codec that is interfering with it.

Okay, I tried it in VLC Player and the red-ish colour is still there. What else can I try? This is pretty frustrating....

Well, most likely if VLC has the same results, it's not the codec. Are you sure it's not the video itself? Does it do the same with all Xvids or all videos?

I just played a couple videos off of burned DVD's and they appeared to be red-ish too. This is weird. Games and internet pages display fine!

Do you know what could be causing this?

I have an nVidia 7600 GS that sometimes screws up it's *video overlay* color controls only, which may be why your OTHER things may still look okay. Don't know about your 8800, but try this...

    * look in Control Panel for the nVidia tool
    * look for the Video + Television settings
    * go to the Adjust Color Controls section
    * go to the Correction (Color Temperature) settings
    * select the option DO NOT USE COLOR TEMPERATURE CORRECTION (you may have to switch to CUSTOM and back again to reset it). Check the small preview window to see the difference.

Thanks guys. That helped! I fiddled with it for a bit and the picture seem alot better now that how it was (although still not perfect). Are there setups that are downloadable for this?
