    Hello people,

Which are the best settings to encode a Quicktime video to stream over the internet? I would like to know if there is any way to have the Quicktime video to start streaming without waiting to download the whole file... Progressive mode is called I guess. Any advise?

    Thanks in advance.

Here's the only program I see in our 'Tools' section for streaming QuickTime. It does have a couple of guides listed on the bottom of the tool page: https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=Unreal_Media_Server

I don't use QuickTime, so I'm no help with it.

    And welcome to our forums.

  3. Yes, I think I can help you out with this. Just 2 weeks ago I did a rediculous amount of testing to find the highest quality playback I could get in streamed video for website/internet.

I tried many different products and hands down the best was QuickTime Pro (need to upgrade to the PRO version - $30 I think). I create my videos in Adobe Premiere Pro - saving them to DV NTSC encoded format (.AVI file). Then I load that file into QuickTime Pro and "export" it using the "Broadband - Medium" setting which results in a 320x240 quick start stream video. The quality is excellent - check it out for yourself here (the Let Love Rule video is the latest one i have posted)

Notice it starts right away. I use the standard quicktime plugin to play them. The quality rivals the real professional one's that are produced on the Digital Juice website, which I think are the best one's out on the net.

    Hope this helps!

    1. There are better AVC encoders than QuickTime such as x264 which is free or MainConcept which isn't.
    2. Technically that is progressive download, not streaming.

Not sure if the original poster actually wanted streaming or progressive download though.
