Hello all. I'm attempting my very first DV conversion and I'm a bit stuck. I'm having problems capturing the video to my laptop. I do not have a firewire port, so I bought a IEEE 1394a card and a firewire cable. I plugged everything in and tried to use both windv and dvio to capture the video but they can not find the camera! What am I doing wrong?

see if your card is being recognized by your OS
system properties>hardware>device manager>IEEE 1394 bus host controllers -
You can also look in My computer to see if the cam is there, once you plug it in and turn it to VCR mode you should hear that familair bell that new device is connected. It will be down the bottom.
