If you are using TMPEGnc, click on SETTINGS, and then on ADVANCED tab.

First option in the bottom part of the pop-up window will say"source range" (I think) I am not lookin at it right now. But dbl click on that to specify the start and end of the mpeg.

You can then goto FILE, and add it to a batch encode. Repeat for second half. Then hit RUN on the batch encode screen, and goto sleep. In the morning you will have 2 mpegs ready to burn to cd-r

  3. or you could just use the file pull down in TMPGEnc to select mpeg tools and use the merge and cut tab. add your clip, double click it and it brings up an edit box. you can use that to make a new copy of just the first half then repete and make a copy of the second half. that way you dont have to re-encode the file and it takes minutes instead of hours.

  4. unless TMPGEnc wont let u cut the files, like me. I can have the first half of the movie, but not the second, the porg wont do the second part.

  5. you need to be paitent, the second part will pause for a few minutes before it starts. it takes some time for TMPGEnc to locate the starting point. if it took 3 minutes to cut the video for the first part there will be an approximate 3 minute pause when you start the cut for the second pause.

set up the cut for the second part and leave it alone for 15 minutes and im sure it will work.

  7. What if the TMPGEnc-tools don't work at all? Every time I start editing i get an error...

are there any freeware alternatives for cutting mpegs??

Please help me... I use BBmpeg now, it works but you can't see WHERE you cut!! It's horrible, it splits the file in the middle of a dialogue!
