How to settle this problem ? About virtualdubmod

I want to add permanent subtitle to a video and i follow the "How to add permanent subtitle to a video with virtualdubmod" guide, what i want to ask are...why the result movie with subtitle the size is smaller than the original ??
i dont want smaller, if smaller maybe the quality is became worst and i also see the properties of both movie file, the difference is the "Data rate"

what should i do now ?

running time * bitrate = file size

Use a higher bitrate.

video -> Compression -> (select codec) -> Configure
