I'm trying to figure out how to get 2 movies (just the main movie.. nothing else from each) onto 1 DVD and creating a custom menu, so that I can choose which movie to watch.

What program will get me to do this? I tried DVD Author PRO but when I try importing the second DVD it complains that the rsolution is 720x576 instead of 720x480 and that its a 25fps (PAL) using 29FPS (NTSC) project. My other movie is NTSC btw. Can I not mix the two?

I know DVD SHRINK and DVD FAB will work 2 DVDS to 1.. but no menu creation in either program right?

First extract each movie as an MPEG file.
Many ways to do this, see guides.

Some authoring apps won't let you mix PAL and NTSC titles, but one that does is GuiforDVDAuthor.

For that you need to demux each title to video and audio files.
It's very easy then to import these to a new project with a menu; see its docs.

ConvertXtodvd will let you add the two movies and will generate a menu to access what you have added. Only drawback is that you have limited power over the menu that is created.
You should try it and see how it's easy. I believe that if you configure convertsxtodvd to output ntsc it convert the pal one to ntsc. You have complete power over the final dvd that is created via the options.
The plus is that is waaaaaaaay simpler.

You should carefully read the sticky post called How do I join several DVDs, VIDEO_TS folders

ConvertXtoDVD will also re-encode both videos, which you may not want. The 30 day trial of DLP will also allow you to author a non-compliant, mixed format disc.

Can your player play PAL material ?

ConvertX, just tried it (cause thats what I use for converting AVIs to DVDs), anyways, do I import the Video TS folders? Or do I have to convert the DVDs to mpgs first? Becuase when I try to open the Video TS folders for each dvd it shows the VTS_01_1.vob, VTS_02_2.vob etc and adding that will leave the menu named as that (no rename option).
