I've just started to download movies from the internet and they are being saved into a download file that saves them as rar files. How do I get then from rar into a format that Nero or Decrypter or Shirk can use to burn onto a disk? (Sorry I'm new at this)

.rar isn't a video format, it's a compression format like .zip. It's benefit over zip is that you can break a very large file into dozens of small files, then post them, then they can be reformed into the original video file.

Winrar is the program I use to reconstitute .rar files. It is shareware and runs about $20.

If you're downloading, you probably also want to get a parity program like Quickpar, which is freeware. Download the .par files along with the .rar files. .par allows you to check the integrity of the .rar files after downloading, and to repair any damaged files, and replace any missing files. If you try to run Winrar on a broken .rar file, it simply won't work (even if only one .rar file is damaged)

You can use WinRAR archiver trial (it's functional for 40 days). Open in it the directory with complete set of files (it's usually a multi-volume archive), select all of them by using Shift key for the last selected file and right-click/'extract to...' or use extract button, then choose directory.
