got a Proview 19" widescreen. when you turn it on it will go black about 8 secs later. You can hear some electrical static then a click and then the screen will go black. Is this the inverter?

Looks like you need to RMA it. I hope it's within its manufacturer warranty. Otherwise 19" LCDs are pretty cheap these days, even for better branded ones.

My Proview 17" LCD has died after 2 years and 10 month of service.
I returned it to a dealer here for a replacement, because they come with 3 year warranty.

this monitor came from work so i didnt pay a cent for it. so i thought if i spend under $100 for the power supply or inverter than i got a good deal.

    What a deal!

I payed over 400$ for mine, almost 3 years ago.

When I returned it to a dealer here, they tested it and gave me a paper signed "dead, unrepairable, to be replaced". 2 weeks has passed, I'm still waiting for a replacement.

All in all, I wouldn't buy that brand again. I don't have a clue what is a service life of an LCD monitors, but I expect it to be slightly over a warranty period.
