Recently aquired a Sony unit as above.

It pretty much plays anything you throw at it....SVCD as well as VCD on CDR all layers I have tryed...

HOWEVER....when I play a CDR that has been encoded with CCE (DVD2SVCD) There are slight pauses in the picture at random intervals...it can be quite annoying although still watchable.

When I play a SVCD encoded with TMPGE it works perfectly. I also have a Lennox stand alone DVD player...which plays everything faultlessly....encoded by either perfectly

Was wondering if anyone had any sugestions about any CCE settings I might alter that might correct this problem since this is obviously not a CDR related issue more a MPEG stream compatibility issue with the Sony player.

DVD2SVCD produces a far better result and is easier to use than a TMPGE solution in most cases also gives the DVD chapters automatically which is nice
