I had a problem, where I couldn't get xvid's working, but I solved it. Now I have a problem with choppy films. The audio is fine and isn't out of sync either, but sometimes the video gets a bit choppy and after a few seconds it goes back to normal. I tried a 2 year old film and it worked perfectly while I've tried newer films and those are choppy, when playing. I ran Gspot, the difference that I saw was the codecs, the older film had Xvid 1.0.3 while the others had Xvid 1.1.2 Final.
I'll give other info about the older film too: resolution 516x272, bitrate 192kbs, framerate 23f/s (i think they all had the same framerate), data rate 123kbs, sample size 12bit
Newer film: resolution 640x272, bitrate 448kbs, data rate 189kbs, sample size 12bit
newer film 2: 656x272, bitrate 448kbs, datarate 168kbs
newer film 3: 608x256, bitrate 162kbs, data 114kbs, this film also had Xvid 1.1.0 codec.
I tried writing the newer films on 2 different CD's, one was a TDK CD-RW and the other was a Verbatim CD-R, no change at all. My DVD player is a Sony DAV-DZ100.
Ok, I tried another set of two movies. One was made in 2005 and the other in 2006. The older one was using Xvid 1.0.3 and the other Xvid 1.1.2 Final. The same thing happened as before, the film with Xvid 1.1.2 Final ran a bit choppy in my DVD player, while the other one ran fine.
